ChaIos Media News - 2 weeks later. Still no Sora

Greetings, fellow generative AI enthusiast. Another two insane weeks have passed since the last edition. We’re still reeling from the Sora madnes. We’ve only entered the third month of 2024 but it feels like an entire year has passed already. Such is life in generative AI. Let’s get right to it!

Google Gemini “misses the mark”

Or like Erlich Bachmann in “Silicon Valley” would say: Google “sh-t the bed”.

Google really dropped the ball with its AI tool, Gemini, which ended up excluding white folks from history, sparking a massive $70 billion hit to its market value. This mess has shown Google isn't the invincible tech titan everyone thought it was. Beyond just a bad look, it's clear there are bigger issues at play. There’s a million hot takes to read about this as the fiasco went viral. The memes were truly off the chain.

It’s a real shame because the Gemini 1.5 model with a whopping 1 million token context window is actually quite capable.

Unfortunately for Google, no one is talking about that anymore because of the spectacular way they botched up the image generation part of Gemini. The memes were truly off the chart and Google had to take it down as part of their damage control.

Our own Marco had a lot of fun rendering a Nickelback inspired rock song about a man who is dating a cyborg and creating a music video to go with it.

LTX Studio and Morph Studio: Let’s focus on storytelling

A brand new AI video creation tool has appeared seemingly out of nowhere and has taken social media by storm. Enter LTX Studio, a tool that doesn’t just generate video but does much more than that. The folks from LTX studio have been taking requests from random users of X, producing videos based on those requests. The tool is not yet available but you can join the wait list. We can’t wait to get access to this and tell you more about what it can do.

Another exciting looking tool that has entered the scene at roughly the same time as LTX studio is Morph Studio. Just like LTX studio, details about what it can do are still sparse and all we can do right now is sign up for the wait list to get access. This tool boasts collaboration with Stability AI which is definitely something that has piqued our interest.

Freepik Pikaso

Yet another exciting new tool on the block is Freepik Pikaso. Freepik is launching a suite of several new tools. Sketch to image, an avatar creator and a brand new text to image tool that allows extremely rapid exploration of prompts in a large set of styles, lighting and color schemes. It’s an excellent way to quickly explore many different options for your project in order to nail down that look and feel you are looking for.

Runway Motion Brush Auto-detect area

Reflecting on what now appears to be a much-needed UI enhancement, Runway has recently introduced a notable upgrade to the multi-motion brush interface. The new "Auto-detect area" function allows for automatic masking of larger image areas, reminiscent of Photoshop's object selection tool. This improvement is set to greatly reduce the time spent by regular motion brush users.
